Samsung My Passport Cinema4K UHD Movie Storage

Had this set up and running as soon as I plugged it the provided cable. The movies are letter perfect and the availability of the online library's are extensive. Great quality and easy to operate.

This My Passport is useful for a very specific audience who owns a Samsung SUHD 4K television. There are a handful of others models which might be compatible but please do your due dilligence. Also, the USB drive exclusively accepts film purchases from the "Fandango Now" app (previously known as "M-Go") which are priced around the price as 4K UHD Blu-rays. When I purchased the drive, 4K UHD Blu-ray was not available, so It allowed me to enjoy the UHD & HDR capabilities of my new Samsung 4K SUHD television at a time when material was scarce. However, as of August 2016, quite a few 4K UHD Blu-rays have been released and there are many titles available on 4K UHD Blu-ray that are NOT available for download from the "Fandango Now" app. The PQ of films downloaded from "Fandando Now" is VERY sharp but many of the titles do not offer HDR, and in my experience, HDR provides a much more appreciable increase in PQ than 4K alone. I purchased the 1TB drive because I assumed it would provide ample space for downloading 4K UHD movies but I was forced to delete previously downloaded films several different times to make room for new ones. The drive is durable and small and I was able to attach it to the back of my television out of sight. It also comes pre-loaded with movies, which is convenient, because it often takes 36 hours to download a UHD movie in full from the fandango Now app. However, you must purchase the movies from the "Fandango Now" app before you have access to view them. Once purchased though, you have instant access to the films that were pre-loaded to the drive. I have had ZERO technical issues or problems and everything was easy to set up. Now for the most important question: Is the PQ AS SHARP AS UHD BLU-ray? I must give the edge to 4K UHD Blu-ray! The PQ Of movies downloaded from Fadango Now to the USB Drive are fantastic and had I not watched both versions back to back, looking for differences I may not have noticed. The difference in PQ is NOT night and day! However, I purchased both the UHD + HDR version and 4K UHD Blu-ray version of The Revenant, Deadpool, X-Men Days of Future Past, Maze Runner 1 & 2, Life of Pi, Joy, Hitman Agent 47 and Exodus and with the exception of The Revenant and Joy, I noticed an uptick in detail and more vivid and accurate colours from the 4K UHD Blu-ray. Also, I purchased another 1TB Passport USB Drive from the same company less than one year before to use for laptop back-ups and music and photo storage. I thought that drive would work with "M-Go" ("Fandango Now") but I was wrong... I was forced to buy a second drive exclusively for use with my Damsung TV and M-Ho. Other than the programs and files stored on thevMy Paasport -Cinema, the two are completely similar. Backwards compatibility would have save me a lot of money! Most 1 star reviews tried to access the movies incorrectly. You need to log on to the M GO service, with the drive installed on the USB 3.0 port of the TV/ONE CONECT box. After starting an account, AND restarting the TV, you can access two movies of the 13 on the drive. The others can be paid for and unlocked. Make sure you calibrate your UHD TV, and watch your movies in MOVIE mode, for best picture.

Great product and happy with it! Only problem was figuring out how to set it up. It came with no instructions. I had to do my own research for setting it up.

I got this for free with my TV and I still can only give it one star for value. There are allegedly two unlocked movies on the device yet I can't access either of them. I have to watch through my internet connection which prevents me from watching in HDR.
